I am scheduled for a Mammogram, can I wear make-up?

Yes; we only ask that you not wear powders, perfumes, lotions or deodorants on your breasts or under your arms. Some of the chemical properties in them have a metallic base and could cause your films to come out distorted and inaccurate.

Are there any dietary preparations for an MRI?

Dietary, no. However, we do ask that you not wear hair clips and jewelry into the MRI room, as the machine is a strong magnet and will attract many metal properties.

I have surgically implanted metal pins, can I still have an MRI?

In most cases, yes. Tissue can grow around the metal pins to help hold them in place.  Same holds true for metal plates, and surgically implanted joints. If you are unsure, please contact us, or your doctor for more information. Please inform the technician if you have ever had any kind of metal shavings in your eyes from grinding or sharpening any type of metals at any time in your life.

Is my insurance going to cover this procedure?

Every insurance plan is different. For the answer to this question, please contact your insurance provider, and have your insurance card, type of exam, reason for the exam and the location in which the exam will take place ready to give to the representative on the phone.

How soon will I know the results of my exam?

In most cases, your doctor will receive the documented report within 24 hours and a preliminary report via the internet within hours of your visit. However, you doctor must be given time to review the report and pull your chart. Allow 48 hours to give your physician a chance to review your report before requesting a copy.

My doctor has requested the films from my last exam, how do I get these?

Call us. Ask our file room staff for a CD of your study to be ready for pick up or to be sent to your doctor for you. Films are rarely utilized anymore, although when absolutely necessary, film copies can be made for a small fee.
